Throughout this course I used a new tool called “GAME” plan. It is a study skills in tool that the first step requires you to establish a clear and conscious “goal”. The second step is to list the “actions” you will take to meet your goal. The third is to “monitor” your actions to see if you are meeting them and if not to change them to meet your criteria. And, lastly is to “evaluate” if you have been successful.
As a student I used it to evaluate two educational web blogs. My goal was to “gain a strong understanding of student created blogs, so I can disseminate the information to my students through modeling and facilitation.”

In the second week I created an action plan to learn more about student created blogs. By talking with teacher’s I learned which sites they have use, what has worked for them and what hasn’t. I monitored my actions and was able to evaluate the sites by creating a comparison list.

I believe that the “GAME” plan would be a good tool for students to use when creating a problem-based project. The game plan is similar to a project plan used by project managers in corporate America, so if this was tool they used through school, they will be able to use it in their careers and personal life. It is also a tool that could be used in real-life situations, such as redecorating a room, looking for an apartment or even deciding on college.
